Pandit Dharmadas Budhathoki (Shastri) pursued higher education in Kathmandu and holds a master’s degree in Music Vocal from Banaras Hindu University and another in Eastern Philosophy from Sampurnananda Sanskrit Vishwa Vidyalaya. During his studies, he served as the lead singer for the Ganga Aarati at Dashaswomedh Ghaat, Varanasi, from 2000 to 2006. After returning to Nepal in 2007, Pandit Dharmadas initiated the musical Ganga Aarati at Pashupatinath Temple and Bagmati Ganga, promoting culture, religious tourism, and environmental purification. Additionally, he served as a Vocal Director for the Government of Nepal at the Cultural Corporation (Sanskritik Santhan), where he contributed to the promotion of Nepali art and music.
In December 2011, Pandit Dharmadas relocated to Canada, settling in Brampton and Mississauga. He has since played an instrumental role in promoting Nepalese art, culture, and religion within various Hindu communities, including those of West Indian, Sindhi, Guyanese, and Nepali origin. He is a founder and life member of the Nepalese Canadian Heritage Center (N.C.H.C.), also known as Shri Pashupatinath Nepali Mandir, Brampton. His efforts to uplift cultural awareness were recognized by the Government of Nepal, which appointed him Spiritual Coordinator for Canada in 2020 as part of the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign.
In 2021, he founded the Saptasur Eastern Cultural Center Inc., where he currently serves as Director. Pandit Dharmadas continues to use his vast knowledge and passion for music and philosophy to inspire and benefit communities across Canada. His contributions have left a lasting impact on both his homeland and the Nepalese diaspora, promoting cultural exchange and religious harmony
