Celebrating Community and Culture: The Trillium Foundation’s Teej Festival

On September 16, 2023, the Trillium Foundation hosted a special event that brought our community together: the Nepali festival of Teej. This wasn’t just any festival; it was a day that celebrated the rich culture of Nepal and showed how traditions can bring people closer, no matter where they’re from.

The Day’s Three-Part Program:

1. Inauguration Ceremony:

The festival kicked off with an opening ceremony that really set the mood for a day of fun and culture. Guests and leaders from our community talked about why Teej is such an important festival in Nepal and what it means for all of us in diaspora.

2. Cultural Extravaganza:
Next up, we had a blast with all sorts of cool performances. But the best part is the cultural dances. Dancers in beautiful, traditional Nepali clothes performed amazing dances that told stories and captivated everyone watching.

3. Teej Queen Competition:
The excitement peaked with the Teej Queen competition. It was more than just a contest; it was about showing off the beauty, talent, and cultural pride of the participants. The winner would be someone who really represents what Teej is all about.

The Trillium Foundation’s Teej festival was an unforgettable day that did more than just entertain. It reminded us of the strong spirit of the Nepali community and how our shared traditions can create a bond that lasts. Looking back, we’ll always remember the laughter, the dancing, and the feeling of being part of one big family.
